Rationale for Choosing Reflection
Reflection is something that I always dreaded throughout my B.A. and B.Ed. I disliked analyzing myself because I have always had a negative image of myself, my work, and my knowledge. I always felt that if I was truly honest in my reflection then maybe the professor would get a negative image of me and/or give me a lower grade. However, during my Masters, I realized the importance of self-reflection for the sole purpose of improving myself. I learnt various techniques of reflecting and used different methods to reflect. I now see that reflection is an on-going process. It is something that I will always be engaged in in order to achieve my goals. As a teacher, reflection is crucial especially when it comes to a lesson that was conducted. Only after reflecting on how the lesson went and if the students were engaged and actually learned the concept will I be able to make changes to benefit the students. Through courses such as Social and Cultural Context of Education, Curriculum Planning and Implementation and Learning Tools I have had the opportunity to reflect on various topics.
